Gas Leak in Pontiac Closes Part of Rt. 116

In Pontiac about 10 Tuesday morning, officials had to shut down a one block radius of Route 116 or East Howard Street for a time after a work crew boring for a fiber optic cable damaged a small gas service line.  Police shut down streets, alleys, even sidewalks, and made sure area homes had their windows closed while diverted traffic.  Nicor had the situation resolved a short time later.
