Two die in crash northern Kankakee County crash

Two people were killed Thursday in a crash at Route 50 and 12-thousand North Road in far northern Kankakee County. Illinois State Police say the crash happened just before one yesterday afternoon when a car driven by 53-year-old Lisa M. Dome of Wilmington was traveling eastbound on 12-thousand north, failed to stop at Route 50 and was hit by a pick-up that was southbound on Route 50. Dome died at the scene of the crash and her granddaughter, identified by the Kankakee County Coroner’s office as nine-year-old Weylen R. Cadorette of Wilmington, had to be cut from the wreckage and  was taken to the hospital where she later died of her injuries. The driver of the pick-up was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. State police say the intersection had to be shut down for investigation and clean-up and re-opened about 6:30 last night.
