Kankakee Ties with Rockford for Highest Jobless Rate Last Month

Kankakee’s Jobless rate fell in February.  The January rate topped the state at 7.5 percent, but the Illinois Department of Employment Security reports that number fell back to 6.8 percent last month.  Still, that 6.8 tied with Rockford for the highest unemployment rate in the state.  The lowest jobless rate in the state is in the Bloomington area.   The Kankakee area did add some 400 jobs over the last year.
