During this morning’s meeting of the Kankakee County Board’s Finance Committee, Count Treasurer Nick Africano told the committee there’s been a bill introduced in Springfield to let the county keep the proceeds from all interest earned on county bank accounts instead of sending it back to individual taxing bodies
County Board Chairman Andy Wheeler said interest income to the county was significant this year
Africano pointed out that any money the county has that doesn’t need to be readily available is invested in high interest money market account to use the markets for additional income for the County.
