79th District State Representative Jackie Haas is among the Republican State Senators and Representatives that have joined a lawsuit challenging the passage of Senate Bill 328, saying the law’s passage was unconstitutional under the third reading rule. Under the rule, legislation is to be read, at least by title, for three days in the legislature before it’s voted on. The lawsuit alleges the legislature is cutting corners in an effort to push pieces of legislation through. Senate Bill 328 is a re-write to the State’s Code of Civil Procedure. In a press release, Haas said the lawsuit is an effort to “restore transparency and accountability” in state law-making”
